HTML Auto Formatting with Visual Studio

June 23, 2008

A neat feature in VS2005-2008 is automatic HTML formatting.  You know how ugly your html page can get after dropping loads of controls on it and moving some around with the GUI.  In cleaning up some code, I found it pretty useful.  Thus:

Before:

Before

During:

During

After:

After

Provided your tags aren’t horribly butchered it does rather well.  Your mileage may vary on Javascript, I don’t see any real support for it at the moment.  You can do some neat tweaks from the options menu though.   I might shorten the wrap option default to fit the way I setup my environment but for general use it’s pretty reasonable for the masses.

For the fleet fingered.  CTL-A,K,F will do it all fast.   Or CTL-K,D
